Lyrics: The Final Bow (I Don't Miss You Anymore)

I've been having fun with regular blog posts for a change, but I feel like I've been neglecting the creative side of things around here! I was going to post a poem, but for a change of pace here are some lyrics for a song I wrote a couple of years ago that's a work in progress. You'll notice that the lyrics change slightly in each chorus to continue telling the story of the relationship and the process of letting go. Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to comment, digg, share, or email! Or even if you just silently enjoy it--thank you.

The Final Bow (I Don't Miss You Anymore)

You had such power
You made me forget who I was
I rushed to destroy it
The life that I had built
Was in your hands

CHORUS 1:
And I let you
And I loved you
And I wanted what we had before
And I let go
And now I know
That I don't miss you anymore

You were my angel
You gave me your wings when you left
I enshrined them
I learned to try them
And now they're my own

CHORUS 2:
And I'd hold you
And I'd tell you
The tide's already left the shore
And I'd let go
And then you'd know
That I don't miss you anymore

BRIDGE:
One touch from you
Would break me in two
I'm over you
So let me take
The final bow

CHORUS 3:
And the dreams stopped
And the tears stopped
And I have healed though I'm still sore
And you let go
So now I know
That I don't miss you anymore
