On the Loss of a Legend: In memory of Michael Jackson, 1958-2009

"Working on a 3-part piece about Michael Jackson for the blog next week. Going to the Motown Historical Museum tomorrow to pay my respects... I was at the New Kids on the Block concert in Detroit when I found out about MJ's death. There are no words for the atmosphere of sadness & yet celebration. I haven't been able to pull myself away from the TV. I am surprised and moved by the outpouring of love and respect from everyone. I only wish the world had shown him this kind of support when he needed it most. The scandal often outweighed the music, but no more. Now the music will live on and he will be immortal as he always wished to be. Free from the judgment of the world and in a much better place. As artists and music lovers we would not be who we are today without the influence of Michael Jackson. We were all affected and changed. Let's keep the music alive forever and let the scandals die with MJ's last breath."

Stay tuned for that 3-part piece which I plan to post here on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of this coming week. You can subscribe via the links at the top of this page if you haven't already, so you don't miss it.

If you loved him too, please leave a comment and show that love. We lost a legend, and just like when we lost Elvis or John Lennon or any other beloved musical icon, things will never be the same...
